Oh, so you’re a movie buff, huh? Do you want to play a game? *Jigsaw voice* I’ve been toying with the idea of spelling things out in emoji for a minute now and it’s finally taken up shape. There’s absolutely no way you haven’t seen at least some of these movies so I encourage everyone to take the quiz. Let’s see how well you’ll do guessing the IMDB top 20 movies’ titles spelled in emoji.
Approaching this creative challenge, I had no idea what movies are top rated on IMDB, as I’ve never really spent much time exploring the site. When I did visit it, I used to look up particular flicks or searched some obscure lists.
Thus, I didn’t know how hard it would be to replace the original titles with emoji.
Methodology I used
I reckoned I need to apply a method to this madness, put some structure to it in order to make my and your life easier. Otherwise you might just be in too dark of a room to find a way out.
So, here’s a major hint for you.
The following title-to-emoji transcriptions are based on the original movie posters and main themes included in particular films. Some should be very easy, others may be a bit tougher but I’m somewhat limited by the available emoji set.
Grab a pen and paper, open a Notepad or a Word document, launch a Google Doc and have some fun. Then, send the post to your friend and see who did better.
Promise you won’t cheat! 🤞🏻
All that being said, as of October 19, 2020, here are the IMDB top 20 rated movies’ titles in emoji:
